Master Class: Culturally Inclusive Teaching

Tina Philibotte is a graduate of Plymouth State University (PSU) where she earned her BA in English and later her Master’s in Education. Ms. Philibotte has been a member of the English & Performing Arts Department at Goffstown High School since 2008 where she founded one of the only concert dance programs in New Hampshire public schools. Since 2008, Ms. Philibotte has been the resident choreographer/co-director for GHS Performing Arts musical theatre having directed and choreographed well over 25 productions for GHS. Ms. Philibotte has taught Master Classes and choreographed for several New England schools including Wellesley College (MA), St. Andrew’s School (RI), Plymouth State University, New Hampton School, and the Holderness School. Ms. Philibotte is proud to be a founding member and the President of the New Hampshire Dance Alliance. She has also presented at numerous conferences and workshops including the National Dance Educator’s Organization 2016 Annual Conference in Washington, DC. Her work has been featured in Dance Teacher Magazine, WMUR’s NH Chronicle, and she is a regular contributor to the NH Department of Education curriculum committees. In addition, Ms. Philibotte is a two-time National Writing Project Fellow, a finalist in the NH Teacher of the Year Program, and recipient of the SAU 19 Dreamkeeper’s Award. She is a passionate advocate for developing a more culturally literate, inclusive, and diverse educational culture. She has presented at numerous conferences, including NEA NH annual conference, the Integrated Arts Conference (NH), and the New Teacher’s Retreat around developing cultural literacy in the classroom, facilitating important conversations, and anti-bias education. As a chair on her school’s Equity and Inclusion committee, Ms. Philibotte continues to lead her school and district to envision and enact a more equitable school culture. She has most recently been selected to serve on the Race & Equity in NH Advisory Group a project of the Endowment for Health.
